It provides a model on how to handle potential situations that could develop into becoming a conflict. Understanding how to deal with someone when they are stresses, upset or angry by being clear in what you say and do in way that de-escalates a potential conflict situation.

The “Occupational Violence and Aggression (OVA) course covers this unit on defensive tactics –  “Control and Immobilisation Intervention Program” (CIIP) unit and the separate conflict awareness (CAM) program covering verbal conflict.

A "Control & Immobilisation Intervention Program (CIIP)" learners guide handbook is available with this program. This includes an overview of general principles as well as translations of all program videos, both in the learners guide and individually within each lesson.

Erhard Wiedemann is a Certified Security Trainer with over 30 years of experience in security and crowd control, coaching and teaching defensive tactics, self defence and martial arts for a range of industries, emergency personnel as well as to the general public. He is a senior instructor at Advanced Defensive Tactics and is 5th Degree Black Belt in Martial Arts
